Here are the SRS Team Trophy standings after the Predator Keirin Classic. Points are awarded to teams rather than individual riders and this is the only accumulative contest over the course of the Summer Race Series. At the end of the series, only the team on top will be awarded the SRS Team Trophy.

The standings haven’t shuffled much since the previous race. Not surprisingly, Predator Cycling is still in the number one spot but this is the first time that the gap between first and second has actually narrowed — though not by much. Could Engine No.11 be getting in shape to catch up? Velo Club La Grange continues to sit in third place while Major Motion leapfrogged Encino Velo to get into fourth place.

Team Trophy Points & Keirin Heats

This is how points for the Summer Race Series Team Trophy will be awarded at the Predator Keirin Classic:

1st place - 3 points
2nd place - 2 points
3rd place - 1 point

—B-Class Keirin Preliminary Heats
2 points for the winner of each heat

2nd place - 3 points

4th place - 1 point

—A-Class Keirin Preliminary Heats
2 points for the winner of each heat

Of course these points aren’t awarded to individual racers, they go to the teams that they ride for. Remember that there are also participation points awarded so teams will get 1 point for each racer registered into each event. Also don’t forget that all points are doubled for female racers. If you don’t feel like racing, volunteering also earns points for your team!

Half way through the Summer Race Series and the SRS Team Trophy standings are in. Points are awarded to teams based on performance, participation and volunteering. At the end of the series, only the team on top will win the SRS Team Trophy.

Thanks to a top-notch performance in the Sprint Tournament, the unstoppable Predator Cycling team remain in first place with a massive lead — nearly double that of the next team on the list. These guys have a deadly combination of strong participation and powerful performance. Velo Club La Grange gathered up the troops and climbed up to third place, right behind Engine No.11 who still sit in second place. Chubby Boob Nerd Crew fall down to fourth place despite a strong showing and some points for volunteering while Encino Velo moves into fifth place with a very powerful performance from one of their star junior racers in the A-Class Omnium.

These are the standings for the SRS Team Trophy after the first two events. Points are awarded based on performance as well as participation. At the end of the series, the trophy can only be awarded on one team.

Earning points in the A-Class Omnium and the Sprint Tournament, Predator Cycling shows up strong again and extend their lead in the standings. There’s gotta be another team out there who can take these guys on. Engine No.11 and Chubby Boob Nerd Crew remain at odds with each other in 2nd and 3rd place respectively — it’s interesting to note that these are the only two teams who would be ahead of Predator Cycling if their scores were combined. Velo Club La Grange sent in a few powerful riders to move up to 4th place while DTLA Messengers remain in 5th place just with participation points.

After a long night of time trials with Engine No.11 Pursuit Of Glory, the SRS Team Trophy standings are in. These standings reflect points for the top performances, points for participation and some points for volunteering.

With almost a twenty-point lead over second place, Predator Cycling is off to a good start to defend their title from last year. There was a lot of rivalry between Engine No.11 and Chubby Boob Nerd Crew as they were (pretty much literally) head to head in most of the events. A few Encino Velo Cycling Club riders laid down some fast times and earned enough points for fourth place while the DTLA Messengers had a strong showing to get into fifth place.

Volunteers Needed

The Summer Race Series would not exist without exceedingly generous support from the awesome cycling community of Los Angeles. Local riders, shops and companies really step up to make these races everything that they are.

Encino Velodrome is run entirely by unpaid volunteers — such as yours truly — and we could always use a little more help. Each night of races requires a few positions to be filled such as pulling lap cards and assisting with registration. What’s in it for the volunteers? Not only will they be contributing to some of the finest track racing in Southern California, they will also earn points towards the SRS Team Trophy. Each volunteer can sign in the name of their team or club and 3 points will be awarded per night of volunteering. Check out how the SRS Team Trophy scoring works HERE.

Summer Race Series Team Trophy

Bicycle racing is a team sport especially at the Summer Race Series. At the end of the season, the SRS Team Trophy will be awarded to the highest performing club or team during the series. This is the only overall award for the Summer Race Series.

The contest for this prestigious accolade will be based on a points system. Teams are awarded points for their riders winning races, winning team events and for participation. Teams can also earn points by having their members volunteer to help run the races.

At registration, riders may declare which team they are riding for (please wear your team’s kit) and all the points they earn for their team will go towards the SRS Team Trophy. At the end of the last night of racing (September 5th — The City Grounds Finale), that trophy will be awarded to the team with the most points.

Here are the different ways your team can accumulate points during the Summer Race Series:

—Team Time Trials (points are split if the team consists of riders from different teams)
